  • To import any shipment to Ethiopia, legally registered company is required who will be processed the importation of the shipment on behalf of you
  • Or you have to be an Ethiopian citizen returnee
  • Narcotics/illegal drugs of any kind
  • Pornography and any material Customs Authority considers pornographic
  • Subversive material, obscene books, magazines and photographs
  • Firearms, explosives, ammunitions and weapons of any kind
  • Communication equipment, fax machines & cordless phones
  • Radio transmitters, walkie-talkies – require a permit from telecommunications department
  • Any item considered as used for house consumption is allowed but there are stated number of quantity and the item should be used, if the item is new and above the stated quantity customs will charge duty.
  • Passport copy
  • Residence ID & Diplomatic ID/Work Permit
  • Bill of Lading/Air Waybill – original, Express Release not allowed
  • Comprehensive Valued Inventory – dated & signed by owner
  • Power of Attorney – giving authority for Destination Agent to arrange customs clearance
  • Declaration of Customer – attesting to length of stay, amount of currency
  • There should be a legally registered company who will process your import permit or you have to be an Ethiopian citizen returnee
  • Yes, but you have to get a permit form Mistry of transport

  • Original Commercial Invoice
  • Import Permit
  • Other permits if the cargo type request from different government ministry offices like DACA, Tele, INSA…
  • Donation Certificate (if cargo is donated)
  • Shipper should prepare a donation certificate and send to consignee the original
  • Other documents are the same as commercial cargo.
